The Hairpin Leg.

The original mid-century leg, the visually lightest in the range, now offered two ways: the classic metal hairpin in three slim splayed steel rods, or a handcrafted solid oak hairpin in the same silhouette cut entirely from French oak. Both scaled and reinforced for a 37mm oak top, both included in the price. Right for smaller rooms, white-painted interiors, and tables that should look almost barefoot.

The leg style most associated with mid-century Danish furniture, built robustly enough to carry a 37mm French oak slab. Choose the classic metal hairpin in powder-coated steel, or the handcrafted oak hairpin turned from the same timber as your top.

When to pick the Hairpin leg

Three rooms it was designed for.

Scandi-influenced interiors

White-painted walls, light-oak floors, mid-century chairs, paper pendant lights. The Hairpin is the leg that visually disappears into a Scandi room and lets the timber sit on top of it. Default pairing: 180cm × 90cm in white-oak with white Hairpins.

Smaller rooms (4-seater and 5-seater)

The Hairpin's slim profile makes 140cm and 160cm tables look less squat, visually they read as a bigger table than they are. Right for Victorian terraces, urban flats, period semis where a heavier leg would dominate.

Garden-room and conservatory dining

Glass-walled extensions and conservatories want furniture that doesn't compete with the view. Hairpin legs read as almost-not-there against a glass background, the timber top floats. Pair with natural oil and white Hairpins for the cleanest look.

Configurable

One leg. Four colours. Best on shorter tops.

The Hairpin leg is structurally fine on any of our five lengths but reads as proportionally right on the 140cm, 160cm and 180cm tops. On the 240cm or 280cm we'd recommend a heavier leg style (Box, Trapezium or X-Frame) for visual balance, though we'll happily build you a 280cm Hairpin if that's the look.
