Every Timber Row dining table is made to order from solid French oak in our Wickford, Essex workshop, carefully finished by hand and delivered by a specialist two-person furniture team.

Mainland UK delivery is free. We’ll carry your table into your room of choice, and because the tabletop and base arrive separately, even our larger dining tables are designed to be straightforward to deliver and assemble.

Most tables are ready within approximately 4–5 weeks. Here’s what happens from the moment you order to the moment you sit down around it.

How it works

From order to dining room in six simple steps.

Your table goes into production

Choose your size, oak finish, edge style and base, and place your order online. We’ll confirm everything by email before allocating the French oak and components for your table.

Made in our Essex workshop

Your tabletop is made from two exceptionally wide boards of solid French oak, carefully selected and joined edge-to-edge in our Wickford workshop. We shape, sand and finish the top by hand before applying your chosen hardwax-oil finish and allowing it to cure properly.

Final inspection & delivery booking

Once your table is finished, we inspect it carefully, protect the tabletop and base for transport and hand it over to our specialist furniture delivery team. They’ll contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date and provide a delivery window.

Delivered to your room of choice

A two-person furniture team will bring your table into your home and place the separate tabletop and base in your chosen room. Delivery to most mainland UK addresses is completely free.

Got awkward access? Let us know about tight staircases, upper floors, restricted parking or unusually narrow entrances before delivery and we’ll help make sure everything is planned properly.

Simple assembly

Your tabletop and base are transported separately, making large tables much easier to manoeuvre through doors, hallways and staircases.

Once inside, assembly is simple. The fixing points are prepared in our workshop, so you simply position the base and secure the supplied bolts with the Allen key provided. Two adults can normally assemble the table in just a few minutes.

Have dinner

That’s it. Pull up the chairs, pour something nice and enjoy your new table. Solid oak only gets better as it becomes part of the family.

Will it fit?

Ordering a large solid-oak dining table can raise one obvious question: how are we going to get it into the house?

Fortunately, we design every Timber Row table with delivery in mind. The tabletop and base arrive separately, allowing even our largest tables to be manoeuvred through normal doorways, hallways and staircases far more easily than a fully assembled table.

Large table, surprisingly slim profile

Even a 280cm tabletop is only approximately 37mm thick, which means it can normally be carried upright through a standard doorway.

With larger tables, tight corners, stair landings and low ceilings are usually more important than the width of the doorway itself.

Flats, stairs & awkward access

Our furniture teams regularly handle large-table deliveries, including flats and upper floors. Transporting the top and base separately makes most normal staircases straightforward.

If you have several flights, very tight turns, limited parking or an unusual entrance, tell us before ordering and we’ll help assess the access.

Send us a few photos and measurements before ordering and we’re happy to check. A quick email to [email protected] with your doorway, corridor and stair dimensions is all we need.

Your table is protected from workshop to home.

Every table is carefully wrapped and protected before leaving our workshop. In the unlikely event that anything is damaged during delivery, simply take a few photographs and let us know.

We’ll deal with the delivery team directly and arrange the appropriate solution, whether that means replacing a component, repairing the affected piece or replacing it altogether.

You won’t be passed between us and a courier. Your order remains our responsibility until it reaches you safely.

Returns

Take 30 days to live with it.

Choosing a dining table online is a big decision. We want you to be confident that you’ve made the right one.

If your table isn’t right for your home, let us know within 30 days of delivery and we’ll arrange its return in accordance with our returns policy.

We arrange collection

You won’t need to find a furniture courier or package a large tabletop yourself. We’ll arrange an appropriate collection service directly with you.

30 days at home

You’ll have 30 days from delivery to decide whether the table is right for your home.

You don’t need to give us a reason for changing your mind, simply contact us within the return period.

Refunded to your original payment method

Once the returned table has been received and checked, we’ll process your refund back to the original payment method in accordance with our returns policy.

Wood care guide

Solid oak, without the fuss.

Solid French oak is tough, repairable and designed to be lived with. Our hardwax-oil finish protects the timber from everyday use while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood.

You don’t need to treat your dining table like a museum piece. Wipe up spills, protect it from extreme heat and give the finish an occasional refresh when it eventually needs one.

And because your Timber Row tabletop is genuine solid oak — made from just two exceptionally wide French oak boards rather than veneer or a thin surface layer — scratches, marks and years of use can be sanded and refinished rather than meaning the table needs replacing.

Wipe up spills. Use a damp cloth and dry the surface afterwards, particularly after wine, coffee, sauces or strongly coloured food.
Use trivets for hot cookware. Warm plates are fine, but very hot pans and oven dishes shouldn’t be placed directly onto the oak.
Avoid harsh cleaners. A damp cloth or suitable wood cleaner is all you normally need. Avoid bleach, aggressive sprays and silicone furniture polish.
Refresh rather than replace. Hardwax-oiled solid oak can be cleaned, lightly sanded and re-oiled whenever the surface eventually needs renewing.
Don’t panic about scratches. Genuine solid oak is repairable. If your table gets marked or damaged, contact us and we’ll advise you on the easiest way to put it right.

Delivery FAQ

Common questions.

Where do you deliver?

We offer free delivery across most mainland UK addresses.

Some areas carry a delivery charge, added automatically at checkout when you enter your postcode (prices include VAT, one charge per order):

Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands: £350
Scottish Highlands & Islands: £250
Europe: £450

For the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight or anywhere else, get in touch and we’ll confirm the available service and cost.

Will the table fit through my doorway?

In most homes, yes. The base is attached only once everything is inside the room, and the tabletop itself is slim enough to be carried upright through a standard doorway.

If you’re ordering one of our larger sizes or have particularly tight stairs or turns, send us your measurements and a few photographs beforehand and we’ll help you check.

What if I live up three flights of stairs?

That’s usually fine. Our furniture teams regularly carry tables into flats and upper floors, and because the top and base are carried up individually, most staircases are straightforward.

For upper-floor properties, particularly those without a lift, please tell us about the access when ordering. Very difficult or unusual access may require additional arrangements, which we’ll discuss with you beforehand.

Can I choose a delivery date?

Once your table is complete and ready to leave the workshop, our delivery team will contact you to arrange delivery. We’ll offer an available date and delivery window and will always try to find an option that works for you.

If you have a particular deadline, such as moving house or an event, let us know when ordering and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.

Do I need any tools to assemble the table?

Only basic assembly is required. The fixing points are prepared in our workshop, and the bolts and Allen key you need are supplied with the table.

For most designs, two adults can assemble the table very quickly once it is in position.

Should I check the table when it arrives?

Yes. We recommend giving the tabletop and base a quick visual inspection while the delivery team is there, where practical.

If you notice anything afterwards, don’t worry — simply photograph it and contact us as soon as possible and we’ll help resolve it.
