We check seat height, width, knee clearance and overall proportions against our standard 75cm dining-table height. Colours and finishes are also selected to work particularly well with natural French oak and our darker table finishes.

Delivery is typically within one to two weeks. Some designs arrive fully assembled; others need only simple self-assembly, usually bolting the legs on — each chair's page says which.

Free chair delivery with your table

Order your chairs with a Timber Row dining table and there is no separate delivery charge for the chairs. When ordered separately, chair delivery is £29 for a single pair or set, and free on two or more. Each chair's page shows the lower price per pair for larger orders.

Build your solid French oak dining table to suit your room — choose the length, width, finish, edge and legs — then add your dining chairs to the same order. Chair delivery is free when ordered with a table.

Choosing dining chairs for a solid oak table

A good dining chair has to do more than look right. It's pulled out several times a day, moved around, leaned back on and expected to remain comfortable for years. Construction, comfort and proportion matter.

That's why we don't list hundreds of chairs. We make the tables ourselves and source the chairs from established furniture makers, selecting designs that work particularly well with our solid French oak tables both visually and practically.

Our standard tables are 75cm high, so we look closely at seat height and knee clearance. We also consider chair width — particularly important when fitting six, eight or ten chairs around a table — as well as how each finish works alongside the oak tabletop.

If you're ordering a table and aren't sure which chairs or how many will work best, give us a call. We can recommend suitable options for the table size you've chosen.

Will these chairs fit my Timber Row table?
Yes. The chairs we offer are selected with our standard 75cm dining-table height in mind. We check seat height, knee clearance and overall proportions, and you'll find the exact dimensions on each chair's product page. If you're unsure how many chairs will comfortably fit around your chosen table size, contact us and we'll be happy to advise.
How are the chairs sold?
Most designs in the collection are supplied as boxed pairs, so quantity 1 means two chairs. A few designs are sold individually or as sets of four — each chair's page states its unit clearly next to the price.
How much is chair delivery?
Delivery is £29 on an order of a single pair or set. Order two or more pairs (or sets) and delivery is free — and the price per pair comes down too, because one delivery covers the whole order. If you order your chairs with a Timber Row dining table, there is no separate delivery charge for the chairs.
How long does delivery take?
Dining chairs are typically delivered within one to two weeks. If you're also ordering one of our made-to-order dining tables, we can coordinate the chair delivery around your table order.
Do I need to assemble the chairs?
It depends on the design. Some chairs arrive fully assembled; others need simple self-assembly, usually just bolting the legs on. Each chair's page states clearly whether it arrives assembled or needs assembly.
What height dining chair works with a 75cm table?
Most standard dining tables are around 75–76cm high, with dining-chair seat heights commonly around 45–48cm. The important measurement is the space between the chair seat and the underside of the tabletop or table frame. We check this when selecting chairs for our collection.
How many dining chairs will fit around my table?
It depends on the width of the chair as well as the length and leg position of your table. As a general guide, allow around 55–60cm of table length per person for comfortable everyday dining. If you're ordering one of our 4-seater, 6-seater, 8-seater or 10-seater dining tables, we can advise on the best chair quantity for your chosen size.
